I'm participating in the Boston Heart Walk to help raise awareness of heart disease and the value of annual testing. Physicians have several tools they can use to help fight heart disease, however, not everyone shows the classic symptoms. I’m one of those people. Fortunately, my primary care physician includes an EKG as part of my annual physical. It was then that he saw change in my EKG from previous years. This led to a series of tests and eventually an intervention in the cardiac catheterization lab.
I later learned that about 1 in 5 heart attacks are silent—the damage is done, but the person is not aware of it . I’m hopeful that my story will encourage people to have an EKG as part of their annual physical. I appreciate any support you can provide our team in our fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association.
Stay well,
Rich…
