On September 7, 2016 I suffered from an ischemic stroke and lost the ability to control the right side of my body. I spent five days at Massachusetts General Hospital and 12 days at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown regaining my strength and learning to walk and use my right arm again. After spending several months doing outpatient therapy at Spaulding and through hard work, dedication, the love and support from my family and friends and an amazing team of doctors, nurses and therapists I'm happy to say that I've had almost a complete recovery. However, not all stroke victims are as lucky as I am; stroke is currently the 5th leading cause of death in the United States.
By participating in this years Heart Walk, I'm hoping to raise stroke awareness and show people that it can happen to anyone at any age. Join me in supporting the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
Thank you in advance for your support!
