I had a baby. Normal pregnancy. I gained 30lbs toward the last couple weeks of pregnancy. Not alarming to anyone. After I gave birth my Aunt noticed my ankles were super swollen. The nurses kept saying it's totally normal. I was coughing a lot at night when I was laying down so I adjusted the hospital bed to sit up. Took Declan home and that night I could not sleep. My heart was racing. Coughing. Something in my gut told me there was something not right. I drove myself to the hospital and that's where they told me I had Peripartum cardiomyopathy (heart failure due to pregnancy) I was hospitalized for over a week and my life as a cardio patient began.
My goal is to bring awareness to this rare disease that very often goes under diagnosed simply because people don't know about it.
I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Will you help me?
