Aside from my own heart disease diagnoses at a young age of only 10 and six heart surgeries later that saved my own life (thankfully I am fully cleared)...my main reason for being part of the AHA Heart Walk and the biggest reason "WHY" I walk is in honor of my dad.
At 16 years old my family suddenly and unexpectedly lost my dad due to a massive heart attack. As for anyone, this was a shock especially because my dad was a fit and healthy individual. It was after that moment I knew, "this could literally happen to anyone."
When I joined Moog and learned about the AHA New River Valley Heart Walk I knew it was something I could do to help walk not only in honor of those that have lost their lives to heart disease, but all those fighting currently or that will be in the future to help fundraise for their awareness, research, and recovery!
We all know someone or may personally have, will be, or have survived the impacts of heart disease, so I encourage to walk with me or consider donating to help save lives and bring awareness to the #1 killer of all Americans, heart disease.
