Hi all -
I am running/ walking because most heart disease and stroke deaths are preventable. However, cardiovascular disease remains the No. 1 killer and the most expensive disease, costing nearly $1 billion a day. While cardiovascular disease is largely preventable, it tops the disease burden list and this situation is expected to worsen according to recent projections showing that by 2035, 45% of the U.S. adult population will live with cardiovascular disease at an annual cost of more than $1 trillion.
I am not unique but high blood pressure runs in my family. I have two young boys and worry about their genetic predisposition to this. My grandfather passed from complications following a stroke and so for these reasons and more I am participating.
NOW - I will be running 1 mile for every $25 donated. I will post photos of my Strava routes for accountability and fun! I will link my socials as well to follow along.
