Ron and I are participating in the Richmond Heart Walk for the American Heart Association on Saturday, October 19. This event, and the vital work of the AHA, hold special significance for us. Our precious Abby passed away of heart failure two years ago. Not long before she passed, she had decided to specialize in cardiology pharmacy, and was also in the midst of organizing a team for the 2022 Heart Walk in the weeks before she passed. That year, we and many loved ones joined her classmates and walked in her memory. 

We are continuing the tradition this year with Team Abby. We will walk with Millie, our pup who Abby adored. If you live in the area, and would like to join us in the walk, we would love to spend a couple of hours together, be heart-healthy, and have a nice walk with our pups. 

Abby would be pleased that the people she loved are taking steps to stay heart healthy, and helping to support the many valuable services the AHA provides. It is my hope in particular that the AHA will help find additional ways to more easily detect heart defects that can cause unexpected heart failure, so more people can be aware of their risks.
