I lost my dad and Brendan lost his grandfather suddenly in 2015 due to heart disease. My dad was known for his strong character and devotion to family. Although my dad raised me and my sisters with a steel hand, we knew and saw first hand that his heart was full of love. That love grew when we made him an Ong Ngoai (paternal grandfather). I am the strong independent woman and mother I am today because of my dad's influence.
