In 2014 with no prior health issues, I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease. I had a 95% blockage in my main artery, and I underwent double bypass surgery. I'm one of the lucky ones, I listened to my body and saw a doctor before it was too late.
This is my 9th year supporting the AHA and participating in their Heart Walk event and my 10 year anniversary of being a survivor. I am proud of what I have accomplished in raising funds and in getting the word out about knowing your family history, listening to your body and advocating for yourself. Knowing all of that saved my life.
