MY HEART STORY:
As you know, after my participating in the NORTH COUNTRY HEART WALK for the past 29 years, all of our parents had some form of heart and stroke issues.
My dad first had angioplasty to repair blockages, this was before the use of stents were invented. Five years after this procedure, the vessels had closed again. Dad collapsed while walk/jogging preparing for his upcoming stress test. He had suffered cardiac arrest at 59 years old. A quadruple by pass followed this incident, giving him 20 additional years.
My mom passed in her sleep at age 87 , to a presumed heart attack.
Mike's dad, suffered sudden cardiac arrest, and literally died, on the street while talking with a friend.
Mike's mom suffered a mild stroke.
SO.... HEART DISEASE IS IN OUR FAMILY
Nearly everyone has a family who has passed away from heart or stroke events.
HOPEFULLY ...BECAUSE OF RESEARCH AND NEW TECHNIQUES
Everyone ALSO has a family member or a dear friend who has received lifesaving heart and stroke prodcedures and LIVED.
