I have been a supporter of the American Heart Association for many years. This year I have a personal reason to support this amazing organization. My story starts round 1 on "Go Red For Women Day", Feb 3, 2022. I suffered a heart attack in bed, questioned every classic sign and waited hours prior to seeking treatment. First trip to the cath lab identified a 99% blockage in my Left Anterior Descending Artery and a stent was placed.
Round 2, Feb 26, 2022, experienced the same symptoms walking to the car. Hospitalized and back to the cath lab. Stent moved and blocked another primary artery. Stent repositioned.
Round 3, July 14,2022, same symptoms with exertion, failed stress test, hospitalized and back to cath lab. My body reacted to the stent and created scar tissue resulting in a 99% blockage. Nine days later Drs. performed a coronary artery bypass w/ graft, July 21, 2022.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Make the journey with me in raising awareness.
