I'm organizing Diodes South Portland teams and walking in the 2025 Heart Walk because Diodes wants to show up to support those affected in our own community, BUT I am so grateful for the opportunity to do so because of what American Heart Association (AHA) has done for people I care about.
The research that the AHA funds have led to the open-heart procedures that have kept both my step-father and my uncle alive. The ongoing maintenance that these procedures have needed are also informed by research unavailable 40 years ago.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. That can be a scary statistic.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. It's important to me that I am able to step up and be ready in that situation.
Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more readiness - more lifesaving moments - for everyone.
I Walk to Save Lives. Please help us reach our goal today.
