I walk for Athena, my granddaughter. In September 2022 she was born with a very serious Congenital Heart Defect (CHD); she has single ventricle double outlet dextracardia. This means she was essentially born with half a heart. At 3 months old, Athena had her first open heart surgery. Luckily things went great. She is now a very active and spunky 3 year old. She has frequent check ups with her cardiologist, who is planning the next surgery she will need within a year or so.
We walk to raise awareness for the 1 in 100 babies that are born with a CHD. We want to support continued research and advancements as there is no cure only treatments. Please consider donating as every small amount helps!
