On November 1st this year, I'll again be walking in the annual Philadelphia Heart Walk, as I do every year because heart disease and stroke continue to take too many lives! This year, I celebrate 17 incredible years of life since my sudden cardiac arrest! That is 17 bonus years of watching my boys grow into men, celebrating over 25 years married to Matt and countless milestones and memories. Today, my goal and that of the American Heart Association, is to ensure that all people, regardless of their zipcodes, have the same opportunities to live long and healthy lives. That all people are empowered with the knowledge to protect themselves and save the life of another. I have been blessed to witness firsthand the impacts being made to help so many. By working closely within communities where risk is greatest, we have enabled people to lead healthier lives and promoted health equity. We continue to focus on eliminating barriers to quality health care access as well. I couldn't be prouder of the work being done. I was lucky that Matt knew CPR and we had incredible care in my time of need. I want others to have the same opportunity and so I continue to advocate for a strong chain of survival for people everywhere! This is why I am now a certified trainer of CPR, AED, and First Aid. Please consider supporting me and the AHA so we can make a difference in our communities and achieve this goal! Any amount helps, truly, and if you'd like to join me for the walk (remember, I have heart disease so I'm walking, not running...hahaha), I'll be there! Check out the video to see a little bit about another local survivor so you appreciate how this truly can happen to anyone at any age and stage of life. And in the photo...3 cardiac arrest survivors, 2 you may recognize! My life has been made possible by the advancements supported by the AHA and that is the reason I now dedicate much of my time to helping others through their platform.
As always, thank you for being so supportive. It is through your support that I am able to work to impart change and for that, I couldn't be more grateful.
