In the early hours of July 31, my life came crashing down on me. 42 years ago this July, my dad passed away at the young age of 44 from heart disease. It was devastating to our family, and created an empty space in my heart that will never go away. He was not there when I graduated college, got my first job, got married, received my masters degree. He never met my husband or children. Heart disease robbed me of so much.
So I’m not just walking. I’m Heartwalking. My participation in the Boston Heart Walk helps to raise funds for research and preventive care, and promotes fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices every day.
