Hi Everyone,
Year THIRTY ONE! Why does it still feel like yesterday when I walked in the door and my Mom was gone? She was only 60 and pretty healthy. She worked in research for many years at the University - I'm the other Alice Lawson also in research for over 38 years and missing her like it just happened.
The good we've done over the years is profound. Many of you have been with me the entire time - walking, donating or sending great vibes on event day. Some of you knew my Mom as my regular date to the Law School events. I am so grateful for your support over the years.
Think about how far the AHA has come in a centennial. See those defibrillators down the hall? Notice all the free CPR classes? With a click of a button, the AHA is there for advice, guidance, and training. So, I'm still at it with you. I still need you.
Help me help them help you and yours.
Who do I walk for? It hasn't changed - I walk for Alice Lawson, my Mom who was my best friend. I walk for Dennis Koerber. I walk for Ruth Carney. I walk for Tom and Ken Homnick. I walk for Arnie (Red) Shaner. I walk for Jim Herrmann. I walk for those of you who need me to be out there raising funds - whoever you are, wherever you are. We have seen incredible research advances but, in this climate, we need more funding to go to non-federal entities that can continue the demand for RESEARCH.
I feel the strength of my Mother shine upon each step I take. I know each year that we walk WE ENABLE ANOTHER TO LIVE. We don't just give checks; we give a better chance of survival.
So walk with me on Saturday, October 4, 2025. I'll be wearing the blue shirt that I've worn for thirty one years - I WALK FOR MY MOM. IN MEMORY OF ALICE M. LAWSON, 1934-1995.
Who will you walk for?
