I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives. I was with my mom when she had her triple-bypass surgery at 83; fortunately, she had a very different outcome with heart disease than her father who died of a massive heart attack suddenly in his 40s. My dad successfully lived with heart disease for many years, too, until he died at 93, and the AHA deserves a lot of the credit for their long lives.
