Why We Dance
Arthur Murray Gaithersburg has committed to sustaining and honoring the memory of one of our beloved teachers Geryl Dominic Anderson, who was known as “Dominic” by staff and students.
Dominic’s students ranged in age from five to over eighty. With each, his joy, encouragement, and unbounded enthusiasm shined. His laughter was contagious, and his smiles endless. His bright light has been illuminating our studio ever since.
On October 14, 2021, Dominic tragically died from a heart attack. At his “celebration of life” memorial held at our Dance Center, we pledged to honor him by supporting the American Heart Association through an annual fundraiser.
The American Heart Association has been researching heart disease to create better treatment methods, increase prevention, and develop a cure for almost one hundred years. In one way or another, the AHA is connected with helping develop life-saving surgery techniques and devices, and ground-breaking studies that have continued to decrease the numbers of those affected, not just by heart disease, but by a great many other health concerns as well.
To the extent you are able, we invite you to contribute in Dominic’s name to the American Heart Association.
