Why I Walk
My husband is currently living with an LVAD ? a Left Ventricular Assist Device ? and is listed for a heart transplant. This cause is deeply personal to our family, as well as to countless others affected by heart disease. The advancements in technology that help extend the lives of patients like my husband are truly remarkable, but continued research is essential.
I walk because I love my husband and cherish every moment we have together as we navigate the transplant journey. He?s been on the LVAD for eight years, and with the transplant age cutoff at 73, every day matters. I?m profoundly grateful for the time we've been given ? and hopeful for many more.
So I walk. For him. For us. For everyone impacted by heart disease. Let?s get out there and walk together.
