After facing intense health challenges, I experienced a whirlwind of emotions?sadness, anger, depression, confusion, joy, gratitude, and hope. I refused to accept what I had gone through, pushed back against it, and didn't want to believe it was real. It wasn't until I was bedbound that I finally recognized I had suffered a stroke but had survived. As a father, husband, son, friend, and business leader, my responsibilities are many, often thankless, but one moment stands out above all.
When my 4-year-old daughter asked if I would attend her Christmas play to see her dance, her innocent eyes and sweet voice pierced my heart. I told her I couldn't get out of bed, but she smiled brightly and said, "I want you to come, you can come, so get up!"
That moment sparked a turning point in my life. From that day forward, I chose to get up and stay up! I know what setbacks feel like, face defeat head-on, and rise to triumph over what once seemed impossible!!
