For 22 years, my father, Tom Green, was the heart and soul of the Delaware Heart Walk. As the top individual fundraiser for two decades, he inspired countless people with his generosity, determination, and unwavering belief that we can create a world free of heart disease and stroke.
Tom passed away on September 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but his impact on this community lives on. In his honor, The Green Team is walking to continue the mission Tom cared about so deeply.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., taking a life every 33 seconds. The American Heart Association funds critical research, education, and prevention programs that save lives every day — work Tom dedicated his time and energy to supporting.
