This is personal for me. 

Heart disease and stroke run in my family. I have lost loved ones far too soon, and I walk for them. I walk for every survivor who is still fighting. I walk because in our Black communities these illnesses take too many lives, and I refuse to accept that as normal.

At the American Heart Association I see every day how our work makes a difference. We fund lifesaving research. We help families put healthy food on the table. We support moms through maternal health programs. This work matters. It saves lives.

The truth is we all know someone touched by heart disease or stroke. A parent. A grandparent. A friend. Maybe even ourselves.

That is why I am asking for your support. Give in honor of someone you love. Give so that one more family has more time, more hope, more life.
