Approximately 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke each year. Many of those people will go on to have difficulty moving around their homes and in their community. In the Motion Lab at Kennedy Krieger Institute, we are studying how people move after a stroke and how to improve physical therapy outcomes. 

 

Many of our team members are impacted by stroke. Team captain Caitlin Banks has two parents that are stroke survivors.

 

We envision a world where less people have heart attacks and strokes, people who have them are less impacted, and the greater public is aware of how to keep their hearts and brains healthy. Our research is supported by the American Heart Association, and we hope to give back by joining Heart Walk!
