My mom had her first heart attack at just 43 years old. After being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, Pat went through multiple surgeries to help her heart and eventually received a pacemaker. Even with all she faced, she met every challenge with courage. In time, her health began to decline as her condition affected other parts of her body, but one thing never changed - she never gave up! The willpower and strength she showed us every day were the true meaning of resilience, and we will always carry her example in our hearts.

 

Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death. 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.

 

It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
