Less than a year ago, I received what may have been the hardest call of my life. My mother was being rushed to the hospital in the midst of a heart attack. In that moment, my world felt like it was collapsing. My mind raced with every possible “what if.”
Thankfully, because of an incredible healthcare team, advances in science, and the support around her, my mother made it through.
We learned about Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and she committed to making the changes needed to heal and grow stronger. Because of that strength, she is able to walk in this year’s Heart Walk.
Last year, I walked to support others.
This year, I walk asking for your support.
My mom is standing beside me today because of research, education, and the dedication of those who work every day to fight heart disease — and, of course, because she’s one of the fiercest people I know.
