Dear Supporters and Friends,
In past years, my annual physical showed I was on the borderline of developing high blood pressure if I didn’t make immediate changes. I took my doctor’s advice—committing to regular exercise and healthier eating—and began taking a more proactive approach to my health.
My “why” is also deeply personal. One of my grandmothers lived with a pacemaker for over 15 years, and other family members continue to face heart-related health challenges. Witnessing their journeys, along with seeing the impact of cardiovascular disease on family, friends, and colleagues, has strengthened my commitment to this cause and to my involvement with the American Heart Association and Whitney Young Health.
Over my 32 years with CDTA and in the public transportation industry, I have seen firsthand how prevalent heart disease is within our workforce. As a member of a marginalized community disproportionately affected by these conditions, I feel a strong responsibility to be part of the solution.
It is my goal to educate and promote heart health and healthy lifestyles throughout the CDTA environment, within marginalized communities, and at home—ensuring that awareness, prevention, and action become part of our everyday lives. Knowledge is key. Action is essential. Sharing what we learn is how we create lasting change.
Heart disease and stroke remain the #1 and #5 causes of death in the United States. I am honored to serve on the Capital Region Board of Directors and to support the Executive with Heart – Heart Walk Campaign through the American Heart Association.
Through this campaign, I am raising funds to support lifesaving research, education, CPR training, and access to quality care. I invite you to join me in making a difference.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution of $250.00 to my campaign before June 7th. Your support will have a direct and meaningful impact on our community.
Donations can be made online through my campaign page or by scanning the QR code below. Contributions may also be mailed (checks payable to “American Heart Association,” with “Executive with Heart – Gary Guy”).
