I live with life-threatening heart disease—so do my daughters, my mom, and dozens of family members. But we are protected. We all are equipped with the knowledge of our condition (Long QT Syndrome) so we can be treated. 

That knowledge came at the highest possible cost - the life of my sister, Christie who died suddenly when she was just 24 years old. 

But our family heart story is about more than Long QT now. In 2020, Braden experienced the (hopefully) last in a history of mini strokes, resulting in having a device implanted in his heart (PFO closure). Thankfully suffered no long term effects and we had access to the precautionary treatment so he never should. 

Awareness efforts by the American Heart Association help people recognize warning signs and seek treatment before it's too late...before another family has to lose their Christie and to keep parents, partners, and loved ones like Braden safe and healthy.
