Our daughter Brianna Andrewscavage was born on May 28, 2021 at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. Brianna was prenatally diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot/Pulmonary Atresia with MAPCAS and spent 21 days in the hospital. At a mere 4 days old she had her first open heart surgery inwhich they performed a neonatal ToF repair and unifocialization of MAPCAS. Even though she experienced several setbacks in the CICU such as medical NEC, supraventricular tachycardia, and delayed sternal closure she never stopped fighting. Since then Brianna has had several catherizations performed at CHOP.
In 2023 Brianna underwent her second open heart surgery on 4/14. She had her RV-PA conduit replaced, a PFO closure, and a pulmonary artery arterioplasty done. Despite all of which she endured she kept the nurses in awe with how well she recovered. We believe her charismatic personality and determination pushed her
through.
Brianna's journey is not quite over yet since she will need more interventions, but for now she is living her best life and doing amazing. She is excelling in preschool and off to kindergarten in the fall. She is in Ballet and gymnastics and then tee-ball in the Spring.
A big thank you to the staff at CHOP for all of their hard work and expertise that gave Brianna these opportunities in life and a special shout out to Dr. Lurito at Geisinger. Her dedication and compassion in her work is remarkable. The commitment to these tiny hearts make a world of difference every single day. And for that we thank you for giving us the hope and healing that is much needed.
Briannas success story is just one of many and we are very fortunate to have her home. Watching her meet every milestone and thriving with a smile is a gift within itself. All of this could not have happened without the modern research and advanced technology. So let's raise some donations in honor of those suffering with congential heart defects and make some changes one tiny beat at a time!!
Thank you,
Tiny beats for Bri Team!!! :)
