2026 Maine Heart Walk

Why Medical Education Walks: Our Story
Every day in Medical Education, we teach future clinicians that the heart is more than a vital organ—it is the center of connection, compassion, and community. It beats through every lecture we give, every learner we support, and every patient whose story inspires us to keep improving how we teach and train.
But heart disease doesn’t just affect our patients.
It impacts our families, our colleagues, our learners, and our loved ones. Many of us on the Med Ed team have witnessed firsthand how quickly life can change with a cardiac event—how a single moment can reshape a family, a career, and a future. Those experiences stay with us. They motivate us. And they remind us why this work matters.
That’s why Med Ed Treads walks.
We walk for the patients whose courage teaches us every day.
We walk for the learners who will soon be on the front lines, caring for hearts of all ages and backgrounds.
We walk for our colleagues and loved ones whose lives have been touched by heart disease.
And we walk because education itself is an act of hope—an investment in healthier, stronger, brighter tomorrows.
By participating in the Heart Walk, our team is stepping forward with purpose. We’re supporting the science that saves lives, the research that changes outcomes, and the community programs that help families prevent heart disease before it starts. Each dollar raised brings us closer to a future where fewer families know the heartbreak of cardiovascular illness.
Our team may be small, but our steps are meaningful.
We walk with gratitude, with determination, and—true to our name—with heart.
Thank you for supporting us, cheering us on, and helping us make a lasting impact.
Together, we’re educating. We’re walking. And we’re building a hearthealthier world, one step at a time.
