Why am I so involved in the American Heart Association's SNE Heart Walk?
Each year my "why" changes.
For many years, I've walked in memory of my late siblings Jimmy & Susan, who passed away from heart defects at 3 days and 6 months, respectively.
I've walked in support of family, friends, colleagues & my community that have been affected by heart disease and stroke.
Not surprisingly, this year I walk in memory of my mother, Maureen Brady Sheridan.
In 2020, my mother had the first of many strokes that would change the trajectory of her - and my - life. In the years following, she would lose the ability to stand, walk, use her left side...to see her 73rd birthday.
Many sleepless nights, many hospital visits, many stints in rehab facilities, many months of watching the woman I love slip away.
My Mom passed away in May 2025. She was always so proud of the work I did for the American Heart Association - Rhode Island. One of my biggest cheerleaders.
Again this year, I'll walk at the Heart Walk in her memory. In her honor.
Please consider making a donation in her memory.
