Hey everyone! This is my first time participating in the Radiothon and Treadmill Challenge. I am going head to head with my colleague and friend Mike Aiello. We are both representing SUNY Poly, which is celebrating its 60th birthday in 2026.
Personally, this cause is also important. My grandfather dealt with heart issues throughout his life. Thankfully, he was able to live over seven decades! Also evident is that I have a family history and will be watching my own heart health as I get older. However, there is no better time to be active, as well as raise awareness for this important cause.
Some other stats to consider:
- 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
- Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
Any donations you can make to the cause are greatly appreciated, or better yet, get involved with this great event :)
