Did you know that studies show that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are far more likely to live with heart disease than the general population?

 

In some groups, more than 60-70 % of adults with developmental disabilities have medical claims for heart disease, compared with much lower rates in people without disabilities.

 

People with disabilities also face significantly higher risks of stroke, heart failure, and high blood pressure, with cardiovascular disease risk elevated across the lifespan. In childhood, people born with congenital heart conditions are about twice as likely to also have a developmental disability.
