I walk because my son Nathan was born with a congenital heart defect called ALCAPA. I am hoping that the funds raised through my team can help support needed research for congenital heart defects improving treatment options and detection. Nathan was born a healthy baby and his defect was not found until 6 months of age and he required an urgent open heart surgery. This discovery came after weeks of appointments trying to find out what was wrong and why he was struggling to breathe. Nathan is now a happy and busy 5 year old!
