Cause of Death Explanation
On June 1, 2026, Charlie experienced a seizure and was rushed to UCHealth Poudre Valley
Hospital in Fort Collins. Following an MRI, CT scan, echocardiogram, and several other
tests, doctors discovered severe heart failure. This came as a complete shock to us, as he
had not shown any typical warning signs, such as fatigue, shortness of breath, or
swelling.
To help manage his condition, Charlie was fitted with a ZOLL life vest wearable
defibrillator and began a strict regimen of medication, alongside dietary and lifestyle
changes. He was fully committed to his health and diligently followed every
recommendation from his care team.
Tragically, on July 28, 2026, Charlie passed away in his sleep. His cause of death was
attributed to congestive heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy—a condition where the
heart muscle becomes stretched and weakened, making it unable to pump blood
effectively to meet the body's needs. Ultimately, his heart grew too weak to keep going.
