2026 Greater Washington Region Heart Walk
MARSHEILA'S HEART OF GOLD
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive. Most of the time, it’s because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
My mother, bestfriend and true hero, Marsheila C. Thompson, had a 10 year battle with heart disease and Congestive Heart Failure. In February of 2012, my mother underwent open heart surgery and received a replacement to her Mitral Valve (with a mechanical cow valve). After receiving many trial runs for the balloon method, there was no success. My mother's open heart surgery saved her life. Even with that, some complications came along the way such as being diagnosed with COPD and inflammation (fluid build up) to her heart and lungs. My mother was a true warrior and gave it her all, but unfortunately, in July of 2023, she loss her life to heart failure at the age of 62. She would be so happy to know how many people are supporting and keeping her name alive as it is so well deserved! It is never too late to make a change!! I do this for her and promise to keep her name alive FOREVER! MARSHEILA'S HEART OF GOLD!!!
