My Why. My Story. â¤ï¸
In July 2023, my relationship with heart health changed in a matter of moments.
What started as an ordinary day quickly became a trip to the hospital after experiencing an episode of supraventricular tachycardia, or SVT. Suddenly, I was the one lying in a hospital bed, connected to monitors, wondering what was happening with my heart.
That experience changed my perspective. It reminded me just how quickly life can change and how easy it is to take our health for granted until something happens that forces us to pay attention.
Today, three years later, heart health remains an important part of my life. I stay on top of my cardiology appointments, testing, blood work, and the things I once might not have thought twice about. More importantly, I have a much greater appreciation for my health and for the importance of listening to our bodies and advocating for ourselves.
It’s also why the mission of the American Heart Association became so deeply personal to me.
I participate in Heart Walk because I know there are countless people and families whose lives have been changed by heart disease and stroke. I walk for the survivors, for those still fighting, for the families who love them, and in memory of those who never got another tomorrow.
My experience in 2023 changed the way I look at my heart. Now I want to use that experience to help protect someone else’s. â¤ï¸
