Every step I take in the Heart Walk is deeply personal.
Heart disease has touched my family across generations. My father underwent open-heart surgery, and my mother survived a heart attack before later needing heart valve replacement. Sadly, I lost both of my parents, and my grandfather also lost his life to a heart attack.
Now, our newest generation has begun its own heart journey. Our grandson was born with a bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart condition that will require lifelong monitoring and specialized cardiac care. While others may not see the challenges he faces, they will be a part of his life for years to come.
I’m walking to honor the parents and grandfather I’ve lost, celebrate those who have fought and survived, and help create a healthier future for my grandson and children like him.
If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support the Heart Walk. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps fund lifesaving research, education, prevention, and programs that give families like mine hope.
Thank you for standing with me and supporting a cause that means so much to me and my family.
