One morning in 2023, I had a stroke at 44 years old with no history of risk factors. I was fortunate to get medical attention quickly because my brother recognized that i was having a stroke. The stroke affected my left side and I spent 3 months in the hospital relearning how to walk and trying to " wake up" my left arm and hand. Upon discharge, I was reliant on a quad cane. I have upgraded to a single-point cane but I'm still reliant on an AFO. I have made great strides in my recovery and I'm working toward being AFO free by the time of the Heart Walk. While my arm recovery is still ongoing, I want to celebrate the parts of me that have recovered.
