Why I Walk
Almost four years ago, my life changed in an instant. At just 45 years old, I had a stroke. I was healthy, active, and never imagined something like this could happen to me.
My stroke taught me that heart disease and stroke don't discriminate by age or by how healthy you think you are. It also gave me something I will never take for granted—a second chance.
I walk for the survivors who are rebuilding their lives. I walk for the families whose lives have been changed forever. And I walk for people like me—people who may never think a stroke could happen to them, until it does.
My goal this year is to raise $5,000 to help support the American Heart Association's work in research, education, prevention, and helping give people a second chance at life.
I would be incredibly grateful for your support in helping me reach my goal. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference—and every step brings us closer to a future where more people get the second chance I was given.
Thank you supporting me and helping me turn my second chance into hope for someone else.
With gratitude,
ALISSA
