My "why" is rooted in my younger sister's story.
Scarlett was born with a rare form of congenital heart disease (CHD) and, as a result, has undergone multiple procedures throughout her life. This year, she celebrated one year since her experimental open heart surgery, a milestone made possible in part by the research and innovation supported by the American Heart Association.
Unfortunately, Scarlett's story is far from unique. 1 in 100 babies are born with congenital heart disease, making CHD the most common birth defect.
That's why I'm proud to stand as the coach of our Bishop Feehan Heart Club team and turn our "why" into action. Together we are raising awareness, supporting research, and making a real impact in the lives of those affected by CHD.
