In June 2025 I ended up spending four days in the hospital getting diagnosed with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. It wasn't anything flashy that g landed me there -- my ankles had become cartoonishly swollen during a work trip and had continued to swell in the week after. I was having trouble breathing and had been experiencing heart palpitations, although I had dismissed both as being out-of-shape.
Over the past year and change I've been working with an incredible medical team to manage my cardiomyopathy, doing all kinds of tests, medication adjustments, and cardiac rehab. Now I'm raising money for the Boston Heart Walk to help support other people to get the cardiac support they need.
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don't survive. Most of the time, it's because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
