Prevention is ALWAYS better than treatment!
Though I taught CPR BCLS for years, I have a strong family history of heart disease from both parents. In spite of efforts to refuce risk factors, my high stress job, and rotating shifts (nights, blah) ended up tagging me on a near death heart attack in 2003. Thanks to a classmate, Dr Catherine Spratt, her cardiologist sister, Dr Kelli Spratt, and interventionalist Dr Lin at Penn Presby followed by Dr Pocchatino, I survived off the pump with a four vessel CABG. Dr Wm Groh added stents a few times, and in 2013, Dr Clark Hargrove re CABG'd my heart and performed TMR! So today that is 23 years of "extra life" and the opportunity to love up three beautiful grandchildren, plus more opportunities to help train our future physicians and disaster/emergency management professionals

AND, if able...
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don’t survive. Most of the time, it’s because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
