In a heartbeat, you could make a difference!
April 20, 2017 was a scary time of my life. Being hospitalized for several days and having completed a cardiac catheterization, the cardiologist informed me that I had congestive heart failure. Not knowing exactly what it was at the time was extremely stressful and giving me anxiety for the first time in my life. I was educated enough that CHF is manageable and though there was no cure for it, you could live comfortably provided you make lifestyle changes. In my case, I had specifically what was known as non-ischemic congestive heart failure (CHF), a condition not caused by coronary artery disease, past heart attack, or blocked arteries. Most likely the cause of my condition at age 51 was due to having a sedentary lifestyle, working in corporate America leading to poor sleep, high blood pressure and finally CHF. Nearly 7 million Americans have heart failure and these numbers are escalating rapidly. According to the CDC, they predict by 2030, the number of Americans with CFC will rise close to 9 million.
Today, I live a healthier and much more active lifestyle, following a successful heart transplant on May 23, 2024. I am retired from working in a sedentary environment. I work in a warehouse facility about 25 miles from home, in logistics and delivery, sorting and handling packages up to 50lbs accumulating up to 15k steps daily. My diet mostly consists of high protein, low cholesterol, and low carb diet. Due to the immunosuppressants that I have to take for life, I must avoid specific foods that risk dangerous infections or interfere with anti-rejection medications.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Please help me reach my goal today! Thank you!
