2026 Long Island Heart Walk
Something's Fischy
15 months ago Jack was gardening and started to not feel well. He tried to stick it out for 45 minutes. He took a shower, did some laundry, laid on the cold floor. The pain got worse. He woke me up and said he wasn't feeling well and thought he was having a heart attack. I jumped out of bed we were in the car in less than 5 minutes. We were at Northwell Forest Hills in 15 minutes. He walked in to the ER on his own. I parked the car. When I walked in they were bringing him into to triage. Honestly no one knew the extent of how sick he really was and how critical each second was. The EKG said STEMI and A-Fib. With in 10 minutes he was being transported to Manhasset hospital. By the time I drove there he was already in procedure for a stent and heart pump. It took about 90 minutes. By that time Jon Jackie Jen and Joe were there to absorb all the info the Doctors were telling us. "Third worst heart attack someone survived" said a doctor. SERIOUSLY! He had an external defibrillator and defibrillator pads on his back. My sisters in law flew in from California with in 24 hours. Everyone took care of Shane and our dogs. We had nothing to worry about. We were in ICU for 4 days. In the end we are so LUCKY and appreciate everyday we have together. Jack is 99.9% healed. Last year we did this walk just because we were so grateful for Jack's life. This year we are doing it to celebrate him. I want to let him know how much we love him and appreciate him everyday. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about our time in the hospital healing. His story is amazing! I will always tell it and I will never forget how lucky we are♥ï¸
