This year, I’m fundraising to remember and celebrate three incredible Broadview employees who passed away far too soon from heart attacks.
Dave Deering
Dave was a dedicated employee of CAP COM for 35 years, most recently in the Information Technology department. He always had a smile on his face to compliment his good natured and fun personality. He was a gentle spirit who could find goodness in anything and anyone. Dave cared deeply about his family, his CAPCOM family, and his church community. He was also a huge sports fan, devoted the Red Sox and Patriots. Dave passed on July 7, 2022.
Judi Frank
Judi left us on August 26, 2022. She was born and raised in Cohoes and had been employed for the prior 15 years as a closing coordinator in SEFCU’s Home Equity lending department. Like Dave, Judi is best remembered for her warm smile and personality, and her giving heart. She was a frequent volunteer for SEFCU events as well as at the John J. McKenna Military Courtesy Room at the Albany Airport.
Mary St. Germain
Most are probably familiar with Mary’s story from Miles for Mary last year.
I knew Mary St. Germain for thirteen-years, as a peer, employee, and friend. Mary positively impacted the lives of every single person that knew her, whether that was the result of the thoughtful care and attention she gave to her work efforts, or through her infectious laugh and warm smile. She was the definition of a generous spirit who knew no bounds, willing to help anyone with anything at any time. Mary enjoyed an accomplished career as the leader of Broadview’s Facility Operations department. Mary passed away on August 11, 2021.
My 2023 Ask
In their memory, and in support of the tremendous work the AHA continues to do in the fight against heart disease, I’m asking for you to support this year’s “Miles for Mary, Dave, and Judi” fundraising effort! At the Capital Region Heart Walk & 5k Run on June 4th, I'm planning to run a total of 31 miles (50K) again to generate donations and help raise awareness. My continued hope is it will inspire the level of generosity these amazing individuals were so well known for.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the nation's leading killer of women, and 90% have one or more risk factors for heart disease at some point in their lives. Yet 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable. Please consider donating. Doing so will help keep me moving and, more importantly, will fund the research and education necessary to help people live longer, healthier lives!
Thank you for your incredible support!
