This photo was taken almost five years ago. It's my dad in the hospital, the morning after his second major heart attack (his first was over forty years ago when he was only forty years old). He's smiling because he checked the obituaries in the York Daily Record and confirmed his name was not listed. Once again, he was one of the lucky ones and he survived thanks to all of the incredible tools and technology available to help doctors act quickly and effectively to save lives during a heart attack.
I am participating in this fund raising effort in gratitude of the work the American Heart Association. Through a donation to the American Heart Association, you're not only helping hearts in our communities, you're also helping improve patient care, fund lifesaving research and educate adults and children at risk for developing cardiovascular disease.
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people live longer, healthier lives. I can only imagine what they'll have come up with in the next 40 years when my dad will be about due for his next heart attack!
