In July of 2023, I went in to the ER with some minor discomfort expecting a quick discharge, Several tests and scans later and I was being admitted to Cardiology department because of a Anomolous Heart Defect i've had since birth. After MANY tests and visits and some new medication I'm on the mend but this had to be one of the scariest moments of my life and was an eye opening experience into walking to walk. I've always felt a connection to AHA and now I know why.
That being said, my participation in the Heart Walk this year has special meaning to me. As a father to two beautiful girls I came to the realization that I need to be on this earth for as long as possible. The first step to that for me is my continued participation in the AHA Greater Washington Heart Walk and my own personal heart health. I hope that by participating that I can promote a physically active lifestyle and continue to make healthier choices every day.
