I walk with the hope that no family will ever have to hear their newborn has a congenital heart defect. I walk with the hope that no family has to say goodbye to a loved one after a long battle with heart failure. I walk for the thousands of people each year dealing with the ravages of stroke. I walk because I know exactly what having hereditary heart disease is about. I personally have 4 stents and lost both parents and 5 siblings due to heart disease or stroke. My mother-in-law, my grandkids' great-grandmother, at nearly 92 years old, is a 15-year survivor of by-pass surgery. following a heart attack. Most important to me, though, is that my granddaughter, Teighan, has congenital aortic stenosis and it is through the research funded by contributions to the AHA that has made an enormous impact on her quality of life and survival. You can read her story on the Team Teighan page. Your donation will fund more groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today! Every dollar counts, but when you donate a minimum $40 (or $65 for two walkers from the same household), you will each receive a special tie-dyed shirt in Teighan's favorite colors to wear with us as we walk on April 23rd. Please email your size in a cotton unisex t-shirt to firstname.lastname@example.org, but please be quick as our shirt order has to be submitted by March 31st due to supply chain delivery issues. Your ENTIRE donation goes directly to the AHA and is tax-deductible. Please donate and please come join us as we walk to mend broken hearts!
