Why I'm Walking
I'm walking in the Syracuse Heart Walk in honor of my mother-in-law, Carol. After receiving a tough diagnosis of two separate forms of cancers, and going in to receive treatment, she found out a main artery to her heart was 97% blocked. So, facing two forms of cancer, she bravely faced undergoing the procedure to have three initial stints placed in her artery before she could then receive treatment for the cancers (with an additional four stints put in later).
I'm happy to say that today, over 13 years later and at 80 years old, she is in remission from both cancers and continuing to watch her diet and get exercise for her heart health. It could be said that the cancers saved her life by catching the heart issues before she had a heart attack. As an independent, strong lady, I'm proud to be walking in her name.
Results from the Moment You Give
Every donation will also help create big science, like science that created the artificial heart valve. The moment you contribute to the Heart Walk, you are contributing to, witnessing, and progressing lifesaving science.
