Say hello to my parents, Jack and Emma Schrader in the above photo. Sadly, I lost them both to heart disease at the young ages of 72 and 79. I miss them everyday and they are one of the reasons I serve on the board of the American Heart Association and will be walking in the Capital District Heart Walk on June 2nd.
I'll also be walking for Christopher, the grandson of my dear friend Therese. Christopher was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. He underwent 2 open heart surgeries during his first 9 months of life. Today he is an active 3 year old.
The mission of the American Heart Association is to be a relentless force for a world of longer healthier lives. I am passionate about the work of the AHA because of my parents but more importanty because of the critical work they do in education, advocacy and research. Just ask Christopher's parents and grandparents!
Thank you in advance for your support.
Wishing you well-
Joan
