In November 2018, our mom was diagnosed with chronic heart failure and had a golf ball sized clot in her heart, forcing her heart to only pump at 5-10%. After being flown to University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, she suffered a transient (mini) stroke and had to undergo open-heart surgery on Thanksgiving morning. My mom’s team of surgeons, doctors and nurses described her as a “miracle” because after her surgery her heart started beating on its own, which they did not expect. This year we have decided to come together again as a team for the American Heart Association walk in honor of our mom. All donations go toward the Association which funds research, education and furthers cardiovascular care. Anyone is welcome to join our team!
